Our Year 7 Social Day started off with an incredible Acknowledgement to Country presented by our ERA for Change Prefect Malachy Hurley and Jacob. We were then given the opportunity to have our First Nations Students assisted by Mr Nolan share their culture with the students of ERC & St Mary’s, which highlighted the Australian animals with action, sounds and movement.
The three activities during the day were Irish Dance choreographed by Mrs Knowles, Netball coordinated by Mrs Guest, Touch Football & Soccer assisted by Year 11 Students and Trivia coordinated by Mr Haybittle, Ms Davey and the Year 11 students collecting and marking the answers. Each of the activities weren’t only fun and engaging but also gave us the opportunities to build relationships, meet new friends and leave with everlasting memories with our sister school St Mary’s College.
We would like to thank Mr Bates, Mr Panozzo and all the staff members from ERC & St Mary’s involved in making today such an enjoyable and happy day.
In the evening we were guests of St Mary’s in the SGN Hall where we had a Disco and spent time socialising in the Games area with the young ladies. While there was minimal dancing the boys clearly were happy to engage in conversation with each other in a quiet area of the Gym where they could hear each other without the distraction of music.
Overall, the day was thoroughly enjoyable and we cannot wait for next year’s social day!
