The Role

Edmund Rice College is seeking to appoint a suitably qualified and highly motivated Groundsperson to join the Maintenance Team.

Reporting to the Business Manager through the Grounds & Maintenance Coordinator, your duties will include:

  • Responsible for maintaining the condition and appearance of lawns, gardens, grounds and fields.
  • Responsible for marking playing fields and preparing them for games.
  • Performing preventative and reactive maintenance tasks around the school.
  • Assisting with the maintenance and upkeep of buildings, furniture and equipment.
  • Utilising school equipment and machinery safely.
  • Keeping facilities and surrounding areas free of litter and debris on a daily basis.
  • Assisting with setting up / packing up of chairs, tables etc. for school activities.
  • Following all policies, procedures and industry standards to ensure a safe environment for all students, staff and guests of the school.
  • Performing other duties as required.

About You

To be considered for this position, you must meet the following essential criteria:

  • Previous experience working in grounds, preferably within a school.
  • Ability to work within a team environment.
  • Possess a valid Working with Children Check.
  • Proficient in performing basic maintenance tasks.
  • Proficient with operating grounds keeping equipment such as quad bikes, mowers (including ride-on mowers), whipper snippers, etc.
  • Possess a valid driver’s licence (LR Licence and experience driving a minibus is desirable).
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Possess a basic level of computer skills.
  • Ability to use initiative and work independently as required.
  • Ability to perform manual tasks such as lifting bins, chairs, tables, using mowers and other grounds keeping equipment, climbing ladders etc. This role is physically demanding and manual handling is involved.
  • Knowledge and appreciation of WHS.
  • A commitment to the child safeguarding principles.
  • An understanding and commitment to the Mission and Ethos of the College in the Edmund Rice tradition.

The Role

Edmund Rice College is seeking to appoint a suitably qualified and highly motivated Hospitality Assistant to support the Technological & Applied Studies (TAS) and Vocational Education & Training (VET) Departments.

Reporting to the Business Manager, through the Head of Department: Vocational Education & Training (VET) / Head of Department: Technological & Applied Studies (TAS), the Hospitality Assistant supports TAS and VET Departments by providing assistance in the preparation and operations of hospitality / food technology related activities within the College.

The key responsibilities of the Hospitality Assistant includes but are not limited to the following:

  • Managing the food/resources within the TAS and VET departments, including purchasing / ordering food for all TAS and VET practical lessons and catering functions
  • Assisting teachers throughout lessons, including setting up for practical lessons and providing support during TAS / VET involved catering functions and learning activities
  • Assisting teachers in the planning of various catering / hospitality related events
  • In consultation with the College Business Manager, Head of Department: TAS, and Head of Department: VET, assist with the maintenance of hospitality related equipment, including liaising with technicians for services
  • Additional cleaning of hospitality equipment at the end of the day, including laundering towels and faculty aprons, sweeping and mopping floors, cleaning all bench tops and stove tops
  • Conduct further detailed cleaning at the end of each school semester, including ovens, fridges and cupboards, etc
  • Stocktaking and stock rotation of all hospitality resources on an ongoing basis and at the end of each term to ensure all resources are present ready for the next term’s cycle of learning.
  • Ensuring the appropriate signage and documents are displayed in Hospitality, including safety related information and compliance records
  • Assisting TAS and VET faculties with any other reasonable requests

About You

To be considered for this position, you must meet the following essential criteria:

  • Previous experience working in hospitality or related field (within a school desirable).
  • Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Strong organisational and planning skills.
  • Possess a valid Working with Children Check.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Possess a strong level of computer skills.
  • Ability to use initiative and work independently as required.

The Role

Edmund Rice College, Wollongong is seeking applications for a temporary full-time English Teacher to commence January 2024.

To be considered for this role, you will need to possess the following:

• Relevant tertiary qualifications and approval to teach in NSW, specifically appropriate qualifications for the teaching of all courses in English to HSC level

• Prior experience in teaching English in Years 7-12 (desirable)
