The Role

Edmund Rice College is seeking to appoint a suitably qualified and highly motivated Administrative Support Assistant to aid the administration function involved in the curriculum and pastoral care life of the College.

Reporting to the Business Manager, the key responsibilities of the Administrative Support Assistant includes but are not limited to the following:

  • Electronic filing of documentation
  • Support with the preparation of written correspondence
  • Administrative aspects of school based assessment and reporting
  • Administrative support associated with external assessment and testing such as NAPLAN, NESA Minimum Standards, PAT-testing and the Higher School Certificate Examinations
  • Administrative support for the Director of Studies in meeting NESA requirements, such as the maintenance of accurate student enrolment in courses, confirmation of entries, and nominations of students for the ROSA credential
  • Assist with the preparation of College Academic Assemblies & Pastoral activities
  • Assist with the organisation of Student/Parent/Teacher Conferences and Parent/Student Information Evenings
  • Relevant administration associated with Distance Education and TVET enrolment
  • Scheduling appointments with the Director of Pastoral Care & Wellbeing and Director of Studies
  • Communication with members of the College and broader community including triaging parent and other external enquiries
  • General administrative duties as required
  • Other duties as directed by the Principal and/or Business Manager

About You

To be considered for this position, you must meet the following essential criteria:

  • The ability to work within the various Google suite applications such as Gmail, Drive, Documents, Sheets and Slides
  • Use of a school management system such as TASS, Compass, Sentral, SEQTA
  • Strong word processing and document formatting skills (demonstrated attention to detail)
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organisation skills
  • Working collaboratively in a team environment
  • The ability to meet competing deadlines
  • Previous experience working in administration or related field (within a school desirable).
  • Possess a valid Working with Children Check.
  • A commitment to the child safeguarding principles.
  • An understanding and commitment to the Mission and Ethos of the College in the Edmund Rice tradition.

The Role

Edmund Rice College, Wollongong is seeking applications for a permanent full-time English Teacher to commence Term 2, 2024.

To be considered for this role, you will need to possess the following:

• Relevant tertiary qualifications and approval to teach in NSW, specifically appropriate qualifications for the teaching of all courses in English to HSC level

• Prior experience in teaching English in Years 7-12 (English Advanced, Extension 1 and Extension 2 would be an advantage)

• The ability and willingness to teach Religious Education and Italian (desirable)

• An understanding and commitment to the Mission and Ethos of the College

• The ability to relate to boys and a practical knowledge of boys’ education issues and initiatives

• Have highly developed interpersonal skills and a proven ability to work collaboratively with all staff

• Be an innovative and engaging classroom teacher

Position Information

Edmund Rice College is seeking applications for the position of Presiding Officer for the 2024 Higher School Certificate (HSC) examination periods. The HSC Presiding Officer is a casual position responsible directly to the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA).

The Presiding Officer will liaise closely with Edmund Rice College and is responsible for managing the preparation, conduct and supervision of the HSC exams. This includes managing a team of supervisors.

The successful candidate will:

  • Liaise with the Director of Studies concerning the set-up and conduct of the exams
  • Follow all directions given by NESA regarding security and administrative procedures (NESA training will be provided)
  • Collect exams papers from the security centre and keep them secure until the commencement of the examination
  • Brief the supervisors before each examination to ensure they are aware of their duties and and special arrangements
  • Oversee the conduct of the supervisors during the exams and the packaging of the papers at the conclusion of the examination
  • Implement NESA’s policies and procedures regarding disability provisions and illness/misadventure applications

The Presiding Officer must:

  • Be 18 years or over
  • Have a valid Working With Children Check (WWCC) for paid employment
  • Use their own vehicle with a comprehensive motor vehicle insurance policy
  • Not have a relative (including children, siblings, grandchildren, nieces, nephews or cousins) sitting the HSC exams at any school
  • Not have been recently employed by the College (paid or volunteer). This includes (but not limited to) clerical staff, casual, relief, part-time or permanent teachers, canteen volunteers, board / advisory members or P&F members
  • Not tutor students sitting the HSC exams
  • Have working knowledge of common computer programs and tasks, such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, emails, downloading documents, etc.
  • Be well-organised and have good attention to detail
  • Be able to effectively manage students and a team of supervisors
  • Be available for the entire exam periods below:
  1. HSC Trials – Monday 5 August 2024 to Monday 19 August 2024
  2. HSC – Tuesday 15 October 2024 to no later than Friday 8 November 2024
