Edmund Rice College is seeking to appoint a Part-time Creative Arts Assistant to commence during Term 2 (May 2022). The position will be 7.6 hours (1-2 days) per week during school terms.

The Role

Edmund Rice College, Wollongong is seeking applications for a Part-time Creative Arts Assistant to commence during Term 2 (May 2022). The position will be 7.6 hours (1-2 days) per week during school terms.

As a Creative Arts Assistant, you will be reporting to the Head of Creative Arts and your duties will include:

  • Ordering of art materials and equipment as required by the Head of Creative Arts.
  • Unpacking deliveries and maintenance of stock.
  • Maintaining the art department library and other resources.
  • Assisting in implementing WHS policies and practices, including Chemical Safety.
  • Packing/unpacking and firing of kilns, maintaining a log book of all firings.
  • Assisting with the annual stocktake.
  • Carrying out an equipment audit at least once each semester of major equipment.
  • Assisting with the display of student artworks.
  • Assisting teachers and students in art classes when required.
  • Assisting teachers in the set up/clean up, and general tidiness of the rooms and storeroom.

Other duties as determined by the Head of Creative Arts.This position is remunerated in accordance with the NSW Catholic Independent Schools (Support Staff Model B) Multi Enterprise Agreement and will be classified as a Level 2 School Assistant.

This position is required to work 40 weeks per year.

About You

To be considered for this position, you must meet the following criteria:

 

  • Knowledge and experience in Visual Arts, including technical competency in computer applications such as Word, Excel, basic Photoshop and Illustrator, as well as in photography, ceramics, painting and printmaking.
  • Ability to work within a team environment.
  • Proficient in performing basic maintenance tasks.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to use initiative and work independently as required.
  • Ability to perform manual tasks such as moving art supplies, maintaining storerooms, carrying camera equipment, etc.
  • Knowledge and appreciation of WHS including Chemical Safety and Manual Handling.
  • Possess a valid Working with Children Check.
  • A commitment to the child safeguarding principles.
  • An understanding and commitment to the Mission and Ethos of the College in the Edmund Rice tradition.
  • Previous experience working in Creative Arts within a school is desirable but not essential for this position.
