Edmund Rice College is an Independent Catholic secondary boys’ school (Years 7 – 12), centrally located in the heart of the Illawarra and within walking distance of the University of Wollongong. One of a network of 42 schools across Australia in the Edmund Rice Education Australia network, the College is located on 9 magnificent hectares in Mt Keira. The College is a regional comprehensive school for boys drawing students from all regions of the Illawarra. The College offers substantial modern facilities set in a picturesque setting. With a broad curriculum and an extensive extracurricular program, Edmund Rice College caters for interests, skills and abilities across a wide spectrum in a contemporary technologically rich educational setting. Edmund Rice College is seeking to appoint a permanent full-time suitably qualified and highly experienced Director of Operations to join the College Leadership Team in January 2023, or earlier by negotiation.
Reporting to the Deputy Principal, the Director of Operations develops, leads and manages the College operations and administrative functions so they are well-planned, compliant and communicated effectively, contributing to the calm and efficient daily performance of the College. The Director of Operations has management on operational aspects of the College, including overseeing / allocating daily covers and casual teachers, event scheduling and planning, oversight of risk assessments for events, excursions and camps, maintaining the College calendar, and staff attendance coordination.
This role will work collaboratively and support a range of internal and external stakeholders within the Edmund Rice College community, ensuring careful stewardship of the College’s resources.
This position requires flexibility in working hours and will require outside of school hours interaction with staff who are unable to attend work at the College.
The successful candidate will be a highly experienced operator who can lead the administration and operational functions on behalf of the College.
To be considered for this position, you must be a highly dedicated professional who meets the following criteria:
- An education degree from an approved and recognised tertiary institution
- Post-graduate qualifications in a curriculum area or educational leadership is desirable
- Experience in school information systems (SIS) would be an advantage
- Be accredited with the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA)
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
- Proven organisational skills, including multi-tasking and meeting deadlines
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to demonstrate flexibility, whilst supporting multiple stakeholders
- High level of expertise in computer applications, particularly Google platforms
- High ethical standards, confidentiality and integrity
- An excellent understanding of timetable management best practices and processes
- Commitment to the Edmund Rice values and ethos of the College
- Willingness to support the Catholic ethos and learning culture of the College
- Possess a valid Working with Children Check (WWCC)
- A commitment to the child safeguarding principles
