100 Years in the Illawarra
In 1926, James Terrance Allen became the first student enrolled at what is now Edmund Rice College, a modest beginning that sparked a century long tradition of education, faith, and community in the Illawarra.
2026 marks the College’s official Centenary, representing 100 years of stories, milestones, and connections. Throughout this landmark year, our community reflects on a proud heritage while looking forward with a spirit of innovation and reunion. From the first graduating classes to our current students, we remain dedicated to the values that have shaped the “ERC Spirit” for an entire century.

A Spectacular Evening of Celebration
What an absolutely spectacular evening! On behalf of the College, the Centenary Organising Committee extends our deepest gratitude to everyone who attended our Centenary Gala Dinner at the WIN Entertainment Centre. The night was an overwhelming success, and the energy in the room truly proved that the “ERC Spirit” is as vibrant and powerful as ever.
It was an absolute privilege to see over 500 members of our community united under one roof. Seeing generations of Old Boys catching up across the tables, standing alongside past and present staff, families, and lifelong friends, perfectly showcased the living harvest of our first 100 years.
A special thanks must go to our fantastic MC, Jared Constable (Class of 2011), for keeping the room alive and navigating our formal proceedings flawlessly. Thank you to everyone who joined us to honor our history and celebrate a century of community.
