Enlightening

Learning is about exploring and enlightening minds. It’s about developing critical thinking and practical skills that will help students discover areas of interest. It’s about nurturing, supporting and developing individual potential.

As a boys’ school, our curriculum is tailored to the unique learning styles of growing, inquisitive, males. Through subject and text selections and practical hands-on opportunities, our students experience an education that is inclusive and caters for a diversity of backgrounds.

Our dedicated and professional staff lead the teaching of core curriculum subjects such as Religion, Mathematics, English, Science, Humanities and Creative Arts. The College’s exceptional and expansive facilities also house a diverse curriculum that provides our students with hands-on experiences in many subject areas, including Industrial Technology (Timber and Metal), Hospitality and Robotics.

Our tailored Enrichment classes provide the academically gifted with unique programs designed to enhance their capabilities. We also offer smaller support classes to allow those with additional needs to access assistance in literacy and numeracy.

To further support our students, we offer homework and study assistance after school in our expansive library and learning spaces. Here, teachers are also available to provide guidance in a variety of subjects.

At Edmund Rice College, students will be enlightened by a wealth of learning experiences.

As a Catholic School in the Edmund Rice Tradition and in the spirit of Jesus as a liberating educator, we respect the dignity of each young person entrusted in our care and commit ourselves to knowing their story as a person and a learner.

Learning and Wellbeing Framework

The Edmund Rice College Learning and Wellbeing Framework recognises the importance of student voice and the development of confident and resilient learners. This is supported through the development of positive learning behaviours and a growth mindset for our students to flourish.

We cultivate habits and attitudes that enable our students to become better learners, face challenges and uncertainty calmly, confidently and creatively. We see our students develop greater concentration and focus, deeper thinking and an enjoyment of learning.

At Edmund Rice College, our students are immersed in relevant, dynamic learning and an atmosphere of high-quality teaching – enabling them to become lifelong learners.

The four EREA Touchstones are embedded within the four dimensions of the Framework, which include Respectful Relationships, Quality Learning & Teaching, Building Resilience and Formation for Learning.
