Film Club
Edmund Rice Film Club members have been working on their entry for the ‘Focus On Ability’ Film Festival. Last Thursday, the boys had their first real film shoot and we were grateful for two Year 12 students acting as characters ‘Tim’ and ‘Jack’. Mr Gough joined us in J3 to see the boys at work and mentioned how impressed he was with the maturity of the boys and how well the team collaborated together with such spirit. Mr Gough had a chat with the appointed director, Koen Minett (Year 7) discussing his vision for the film. The boys were excited to experience various jobs on the set such as operating sound and camera, lighting assistance, preparing the set and actors for the film shoot and checking for continuity on set. ArtExpress Excursion
Last Monday, 29th March, Years 11 and 12 Visual Arts students travelled to the Art Gallery of NSW and Hazelhurst Regional Gallery to view ArtExpress and The National 2021. This was a wonderful opportunity for the students to see the 2020 HSC Artworks and for some, this was the first time in an art gallery! ArtExpress is an annual series of exhibitions of exemplary artworks created by NSW Visual Arts students for the Higher School Certificate examination. The students were excited to see the high standard of work produced. The National 2021 presents 39 emerging, mid-career and established Australian artists, collectives and collaboratives working in a diverse range of media across the country and overseas. This exhibition allowed the boys to use critical dialogue to discuss the work in anticipation of their HSC Trial Examination.
Drama
As part of the HSC Drama Course, students are required to experience live theatre performances. On Sunday 21st March, the Year 12 HSC Drama class attended ‘Fangirls’ at the Illawarra Performing Arts Centre. The boys enjoyed the performance, allowing them to witness a professional show which in turn will allow them to apply this knowledge of performance to their preparation for the HSC.
