Year 10 student Henry Jones recently represented NSW All Schools at the 2023 U16 Australian All Schools Hockey Tournament.

With no prior training, the NSW team had a tough first game against a well drilled and rounded Queensland side, going down 4-1 in a tough first match. However, tides turned the next day with NSW recording convincing wins against Tasmania and ACT in their double header. Henry, who was the captain of the NSW side, put in stellar performances, leading NSW to wins over Western Australia, South Australia and Victoria.

NSW cemented their spot in a highly anticipated final, seeing a re-match against Queensland. The team played very strongly and with all scores tied up at half time, it looked like anyone’s game, until a late goal to QLD saw NSW come away with the silver medal.

Henry’s brilliant performances and leadership on the field over the week lead to his selection into the 2023 U16 Australian All Schools merit hockey team. Congratulations on this outstanding achievement Henry!
