From the Director of Pastoral Care & Wellbeing

Over the past few weeks the College has been promoting and encouraging the boys to consider the attributes of a good leader. One initiative included a peer based recognition of those students who have demonstrated clear leadership qualities through their actions and interactions with others. We are currently in the process of nominations for student leadership positions for 2022, this team will be expanded to include an SRC representative for each Pastoral Class. I wish to thank and acknowledge all those boys who have nominated themselves for positions. Their willingness to courageously and generously nominate themselves in the interests of promoting student voice and supporting the wider school community is commendable and indicative of the strong sense of pride the boys have in their school. I wish to thank and acknowledge the work of staff and families who have encouraged the boys to put themselves forward and have helped the boys to see themselves as leaders.

As we draw to a close the academic year of 2021 we wanted to acknowledge how very proud of the boys we are of their capacity to draw on their individual and collective strengths in order to navigate what has been an unprecedented year. To conclude the year and acknowledge the resilience of the boys, each year group will end the year with a special treat for Year 7 this will be a special morning tea, across the 3 remaining days of term and for Years 8 -11 they will have a BBQ.

This week’s parenting ideas article by Michael Grose, highlights some important self-care strategies for parents, acknowledging that most parents prioritise their children’s wellbeing over their own. I encourage you to take the time to read it and take some time for yourselves over the holidays.
