This week we focus on Gospel Spirituality and even though it is a time when we have adopted some popular culture practices such as Halloween, we recall that during this coming week, there are important liturgical days. Monday November 1 is the Solemnity of All Saints, Nov 2 is the Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed, Nov 3 is the feast day of St Martin dePorres and Nov 4 is the feast day of Charles Borromeo; both of these saints demonstrated a commitment to help the poor and to live a life dedicated to serving God. As we take these tentative steps out of isolation, let us ensure that we are focussing on how to be people who follow the example of Jesus to ‘be good news for the poor.’ (Luke 4:18)
The student leaders are launching the annual Advent & Christmas Appeal next week. Students in Years 7 – 9 will be supporting the Homeless Hub and St Vincent dePaul while the students in Years 10 -12 will be supporting the ‘It’s in the Bag’ campaign to support young women escaping violence and harm. Students will be asked to donate an item of food and money instead of gifts so that those we help can choose for themselves what they need. The senior students are making up bags and can either donate items, money or a whole bag filled with essential care items. This is an excellent CSL opportunity in a year when we have been limited in our fundraising activities. To assist with this, you can donate through the College BPay system which limits the amount of money being handled. Thank you for supporting these great causes.
