ERA for Change Advocacy focus: Respect – More than a Word

Our Term 4 focus in this year when we are highlighting the touchstone of Justice & Solidarity is Respect. We are inspired by the UN International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, recognising that the structures we create and the society we live in does not always afford each person the respect they deserve as children of God. In Week 7 we will participate in a whole school lesson about Respect, facilitated by our new College SRC leaders: Respect – More than a word. This will give each of us an opportunity to consider how we contribute to making the world a more respectful place where all people feel safe and included.

Social Justice – Christmas Appeal

We are launching our Christmas Appeal as part of this campaign to support Vinnies and the Homeless Hub. Students are encouraged to bring the specified food items and to make a donation of a gift or money. In Year 10 and 11, we are using the #It’sInTheBag campaign to create bags for women and teenagers who may be experiencing difficulty in their lives. These bags were so well received last year. The Vinnies volunteers from St Therese reported back that the women cried to think that the young men had so carefully taken the time to prepare the bags that meant so much to them. This is a very practical way to support and show respect for women.

ALL students: Donate $5 (or whatever amount you can afford). You can do this by bringing the money into your Pastoral Care Teacher OR through the College website BPay system (instructions below)

CSL – Christian Service Learning

Liturgy – Friday Prayer

The month of November in the Catholic Church is when we honour those who have come before us and pray for the souls of those who have died. Each Friday at Recess 2 students and staff are welcome to join together in prayer in the chapel. This month we are praying for the family and friends who have died and for any personal intentions. Please join us at 12.35. All are welcome.

Sacrament of Reconciliation: Fr Duane from West Wollongong Parish will be visiting the College to make the opportunity for the Sacrament of Reconciliation available over the next few weeks. Any student who would like to attend can sign up in this Google Form: https://forms.gle/PxVzLGTc6N9bxRuV9

Ask Fr Duane: Sometimes you may have a question about faith or life. You can submit any questions to Fr Duane and when he visits the Year group liturgies, he will try to answer them for you. This is a wonderful opportunity to develop your own understanding of faith. https://forms.gle/5FuxxEz5KNXEZ5T78
