Friday Prayer in the Chapel

Over the past semester our Liturgy Prefects and many of our Year 11 and 12 Student Leaders and Staff have been making a concerted effort to raise the profile and attendance rate of our Friday Prayer Initiative. Many thanks to Ben Binoy and Matthew Carolan in particular for their involvement in the selection and facilitation of the prayers.

This term, the students have selected a meditative form of prayer based on the Spiritual Exercises of Saint Ignatius. The Daily Examen – involves individuals taking a short time to stop and reflect on the experiences, choices and interactions that they have encountered during their day so that they can be grateful for the good, acknowledge the bad, and resolve to do better tomorrow. They have been selecting these reflections from the “Reimagining the Examen” App with a different theme/focus being chosen by a different student for each week.

Friday Prayer is on in the Chapel for the first 10 minutes of Lunchtime every Friday, and is open and available to everyone. It is a great opportunity to practice gratitude for the events of each week and to pray for any special intentions that may be relevant at the time. We encourage and welcome new attendees to give it a go! For any questions – please contact Mrs. Knowles, Mrs. Hurley or your Year-Group Liturgy Representative.

For anyone who would like to try praying the Examen at home, the App is available for both Apple and Android devices from the relevant Applications Store for your device type.
