This week we had the University of Wollongong student representatives from the Woolyungah Indigenous Centre come out and yarn to our Year 9 – 12 First Nations students. Together we talked about what success looks like, resilience, the importance of failure in moving forward and that we are all on our own individual journeys. We would like to thank proud Gamilaroi man Zach Stewart and the team for coming out to ERC. A permission note will be sent home with all the First Nations boys to attend a full day program with all schools that have participated in the My Future Matters Program in the Illawarra at the University Of Wollongong in Term 4.
Finally, the Year 12 AFL Reconciliation Match is set to be held at ERC on McCabe Oval on the 13th of September – kick off is at 11:30AM. We last held this event in 2020 which was a huge success thanks to the leadership of Jackson Tikkeros and Darcy Hennessy. This year, the teams will be captained by Balunn Simon, Jed Chandler & Riley Ellem. While there are still some restrictions to the grounds we can use, we are very excited to host this event again this year. The families of our First Nations students are welcome to attend this significant event at McCabe Oval, acknowledging the participation of our Year 12 students in our Reconciliation journey together.
