Diocesan Sport Awards 2021

The 24th Annual Diocese of Wollongong Sports Awards were scheduled to be held at St Mary’s Star of the Sea College on November 12. Due to COVID-19, the awards night had to be held in a digital format. The awards night highlights the achievements of over 190 talented and dedicated students who have proudly represented the Wollongong Diocese at MacKillop and NSW Combined Catholic College events. The College was awarded the Vince Villa Trophy for the Boy’s Championships. The Trophy is awarded to the school who has accumulated the most points in the male division over the entire sporting year. A true indication of how talented the student body is here at the College.

The Bishop Mascord Sportsman of the Year Award

The Bishop Mascord Sportsman of  the Year Award is given to the most outstanding sportsman in the Diocese. The winner of this award has displayed exceptional sporting talent and achievements throughout the year and has been selected to represent NSWCCC & NSW All Schools in their fields. The College is thrilled to announce that Year 9 student Toby Rodwell has been awarded this award.

Toby is a very talented and dedicated sportsperson. In 2021, Toby represented the College in Swimming, Athletics, Cross Country, AFL, Touch Football, Oz-Tag, Rugby League and Rugby Union. Toby’s talents speak for themselves, as he was selected in the NSWCCC U15 Touch Football & Rugby League Teams. Toby was also selected in the NSWCCC U16 Rugby Union team. To add to Toby’s CCC selections, he was also picked in the NSW All School U15 Rugby League Team and named halfback of the All Schools tournament. An unbelievable year of sporting feats for Toby! Well done.
