ERC Updates

Diocesan Football Championships – Opens

In the recent Wollongong Diocesan Championships, Edmund Rice College finished 3rd therefore qualifying for the CCC Knockout Playoffs in June. Conditions on the day did not favour the kind of attractive passing football that ERC usually play, with the most significant loss being in the semi final with Mount St Benedict.

In this game the opposition scored two long distance wind-assisted goals to leave ERC with a mountain to climb in the last ten minutes. Unfortunately they could only pull back one goal, with the 3rd / 4th playoff win being some consolation. There will be an opportunity to rectify this outcome when both teams meet in the CCC Knockout in June.

Game 1 v Corpus Christi – 1-0 nil win to ERC (penalty Benjamin Caroutas)

Game 2 v St John’s Nowra – 4-1 win to ERC (Noah Crapis, Payton Skurtevski, Lachlan Flood, William Milinkovic)

Game 3 v John Terry – 0-1 loss

Semi final v Mount St Benedict 1-2 loss (Noah Crapis)

3/4 playoff v John Terry 4-0 win to ERC (Payton Skurtevski, Sebastian Tomasiello, Levi Martins, Max Cunial)

The Wollongong Diocesan Representative team is also selected from this day with ERC picking up seven selections. Congratulations to Sebastian Tomasiello, Liam Bonetig, Yoan Ciugureanu, Benjamin Caroutas, Payton Skurtevski, Lachlan Flood and Max Cunial and good luck for selection in the NSWCCC team.
