 Winter Sleepout

Our Term 3 Social Justice and ERA for Change initiative is the winter sleepout on Thursday 18 August. So that students from all year groups can participate, we are having the sleep out from home. This year we are raising awareness about homelessness and raising money for Orange Sky Laundry, an initiative started by two former Edmund Rice students from St Joseph’s Gregory Terrace in Queensland. Wollongong now has its very own Orange Sky laundry van that enables people to wash and dry their clothes while connecting to people who can support them. Students can sign up here to participate and on the Orange Sky website as part of our team to start raising money. More information about Orange Sky Laundry can be found on their website

The second aspect of the campaign is a collection of non-perishable food items for Vinnies, as follows:

  • Year 7- Long Life Milk (also soy, oat, etc)
  • Year 8 – pasta sauce & pasta
  • Year 9- juice poppers / ring pull tins like tuna, baked beans
  • Year 10- Biscuits or crackers
  • Year 11 – Tea / Coffee
  • Year 12 – Milo

Students can bring in their items in Week 5 or 6. This is also a House competition with house points for every student who participates as well as bonus points for the overall winner! With a tight competition, this is one way to help your House win the coveted Nagle Cup!
