Edmund Rice’s U15 Berg Cricket Shield team played their RD 2 match against Carroll College Broulee in the Shoalhaven Heads on Wednesday 2 November. The team were put through to the second round of the competition after receiving a bye for RD 1. Captained by Year 9 student Jake Brown, the team won the toss and elected to bat first.

An opening run partnership of 133 from Jake Brown and Archie O’Hara and some late big hitting from Jeremy Packer put ERC in a commanding position of 5/166 off 20 overs, with Jake top scoring with 83.

The team quickly got into their work in the field, with some outstanding catches and fielding on the boundary. The run rate from Carroll College was slow and their wickets were falling thanks to Rhys Barnes (4/12) and Archie O’Hara (3/7). ERC won the match, bowling Carroll College out for 99. Well done to the team, and good luck in RD 3.
