On the 11th of May 2023, students of Edmund Rice College showcased their musical talents at a special Mother’s Day High Tea event. With a mix of classic and contemporary pieces, the students put on a performance that left everyone in awe.
As the mothers and grandmothers began to arrive, the students were nervous, but they soon found their confidence as they began to play.
The pieces performed included:
“Sweet Home Chicago”, “Hotel California”, “Wicked Game”, “Cianco Dal Ladere”, An original piece (by James Massarella), “Bohemian Rhapsody”, “Song For Ina”, “May 1st”, “Lenny”, “Wave”, “Just the two of us”.
But the real reward for the students was the joy on the faces of the mothers in the room. With such a wide range of repertoire, involving many students, it was a Mother’s Day event that no one would forget anytime soon. Following the performances, as the guests mingled and enjoyed their tea and sandwiches, the students put away their instruments and basked in the glow of their success. They knew they had done something special that afternoon, something that would stay with them and their mothers for a long time to come.
