On Tuesday the 7th of March, student leaders Ben Binoy, Zachary Lum, Marcus Meogrossi, and Cooper Newell-Glaser, proudly represented Edmund Rice College at the 2023 International Women’s Day Student Brunch, held by Bluescope at their Visitors Centre. We listened to the stories of three inspiring women and followed the journey they took to achieve their current success.
We would like to thank International Women’s Day Illawarra Vice-Chair Janine Cullen OAM, the compere, and the three panelists:
Lauren Blasi – Automation Engineer for Energy Services Bluescope;
Alexandra Blake – Co-founder and Director of Soul Fit Woonona; and
Georgia Lewis – Legal Officer – Australian Attorney General’s Department;
for their insightful answers to our questions, and for providing us with invaluable knowledge to aid us in closing the gap in gender equality.
Students submitted questions which were answered by each of the panelists. Questions in regard to how they overcame the challenges and obstacles they faced along their career journeys from a female perspective. After the Q&A session, students were also given an opportunity to talk to the panelists individually. As students, we feel proud to be able to represent the College at such an event, we aim to contribute to bridging the gap in gender equality, and we advocate for change in our community. Finally, we would like to thank the International Women’s Day Committee for inviting the College. We are excited to see what the future holds for the event, and how it will further help to inspire both males and females in creating a more inclusive and equitable society.
Ben Binoy, Zachary Lum, Marcus Meogrossi, and Cooper Newell-Glaser.
