Dear Parents and Carers,
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the fathers, grandfathers and those who are father figures in our lives and to wish them a happy fathers day this weekend.
Prayer for Father’s Day
God our Father,
We give thanks and praise for fathers young and old.
We pray for young fathers, newly embracing their vocation;
May they find courage and perseverance to balance work,
family and faith in joy and sacrifice.
We pray for fathers around the world whose children are lost or suffering;
May they know that the God of compassion walks with them in their sorrow.
We pray for men who are not fathers but still mentor
and guide us with fatherly love and advice.
We remember fathers, grandfathers, and great grandfathers
who are no longer with us but who live forever in our memory
and nourish us with their love.
Amen

I congratulate both Year 12 students and teachers for successfully completing the recent online Trial HSC Examinations. Year 12 students are an absolute credit to the College, their families, and as a cohort in showing the true value of persistence. This week Year 11 were briefed on the online process as they prepare to commence their Year 11 Preliminary Exam assessment during the next fortnight.

Recently my immediate family gathered around the dining table to celebrate my daughter’s 21st birthday. While I never imagined that Uber eats and a cake would be the extent of this special milestone – it was still a very meaningful time where my wife and I reflected on how proud we were of the young woman that our daughter had become. I share this personal insight because it struck me just how much the young people in our lives are looking to us, the adults, to remain positive and hope-filled. Young people don’t have the life experiences that we each can call upon when things do not turn out as we wish. Amid our uncertainties, we still have the opportunity to be kind and loving and to appreciate the simple things – like the beginning of spring!
Take care,
Mr Gough
