On Wednesday 21st June, the Edmund Rice College Opens Volleyball team travelled to Unanderra to compete in the Wollongong Diocese Volleyball Championships.
After comfortably winning their first two games, Edmund Rice suffered a close defeat in their third and final group game against John Terry. This result meant that they would face off against the reigning champion school, Mount Carmel, in the semi-final.
In a well-contested semi-final, our boys held their nerves and serve to win the game and proceed to the final in a rematch against John Terry.
With an explosion of energy, positivity and teamwork, Edmund Rice College emerged victorious in the best of three-sets match (15-10, 15-6).
Our boys should feel immensely proud of both their success and the way they conducted themselves throughout the day. As evidence of their character, our boys remained behind at the end of the day to assist in packing up the day’s equipment.
An excellent result for our boys and we look forward to their next competition on Monday when they participate in the NSW Schools Cup on Monday 26th June.
