Diocesan Athletics Carnival

The Diocesan Athletics Carnival was held on Friday 29 July at Campbelltown Sports Stadium. Mrs Schodde and Mr Timpano accompanied by Mr West took the College team to the event, with the majority of the team at the College bright and early for a 7:00am departure.

It was a perfect winter day, with little wind and the sun shining, as our 1500m runners were first up on the track. Setting the tone for the day was Mitchell Blackbourn who comfortably recorded the College’s first gold medal of the day in the Open’s 1500m, followed by Patrick Carolan coming 1st in the U16 1500m. The College’s early positive start continued with Michael Marzano winning the Open’s shot put.

The College recorded fantastic results throughout the day with fifteen 1st places, fifteen 2nd places and thirteen 3rd place finishes. These results combined with the great effort and attitude of all participating students gave the College a total point score of 525 which was enough to be awarded 1st place in the boy’s division! The College also had Christiano Haddad and Chase Grant crowned age champions – a perfect end to an excellent day of competition.
