Creative Arts Extra Curricular Activities

It is always wonderful seeing the enthusiasm at the beginning of the year when the students choose their extra-curricular activities. The Creative Arts Department offer an extensive range of clubs for your son to choose from. The Creative Arts develops emotional intelligence, confidence and resilience, discipline and commitment, communications skills, identity and belonging, creativity and problem-solving skills. By joining one of our clubs, your son will broaden his interests and make new friends. Below is an explanation to what we are offering this term. Ceramics Club will begin in Term 2. ERC Vocal Ensemble

The ERC Vocal Ensemble is led by Kate Whitworth from the Wollongong Conservatorium of Music. Kate was trained at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and specialises in developing high quality vocal ensemble works with ensembles. As a member of the ERC Vocal Ensemble, your son will help select the music and work towards performances and competitions. The Vocal Ensemble was popular last year and it is open to all students at the College and Year 7 are encouraged to join. There will be a zoom meeting with Kate Whitworth on the 28th February for interested students and parents. CSL Activity at St Therese Primary School

During Term 1, students interested in Visual Arts will be involved in designing and painting a sensory walkway at St Therese Catholic Primary School. This activity will be led by Mr Simon Tognetti and it will contribute to your son’s CSL hours. The students will be transported by the school bus to St Therese Primary School beginning on Thursday 16th February from 2.05pm – 3.30pm. Your son is to arrange his own transport home. If your son is interested in joining this activity, please ask him to fill in the Google Form which has been emailed to all students.

Visual Arts Club

Every Thursday afternoon in J4 we have Art Club led by Mr Sunarya. This club is open to all students who have an interest in making artworks. Your son is encouraged to come along and explore his creativity! Over the year we will be exploring painting on canvas, drawing, sculpture and computer graphics. Year 7 are encouraged to join!

Film Club

Every Thursday afternoon we have film club in J3 led by Mrs Rampe. If your son is interested in making his own film and working collaboratively with others he is encouraged to join. Your son will learn how to use film cameras, microphones, booms and the editing suites to make films, we also compete in competitions. This is a very popular club which is capped at 20 students so you need to sign up quickly to ensure your spot. This club is open to Years 7-10 and Year 7 are encouraged to join.

Year 7 Music

Year 7 and 8 students have the opportunity to join Junior Band on Tuesday at lunchtime which rehearses each Tuesday at lunchtime in the music rooms. The band develops performance skills and learn a variety of repertoire ranging from popular music to film scores. On Monday Week A and Friday Week B, the Jazz Band rehearses at lunchtime in the Music Rooms. Students that can play band instruments and are capable of reading music notation can apply to Mr Haybittle to join the College Stage Band which rehearses on Thursdays.

Drama Club

Student’s interested in performance and acting are encouraged to join the Drama Club who are working on a production in the Phoenix Theatre on the 26th March. This club is led by Ms Erin Mascord and they meet in the Br Pelin Hall on Friday’s from 2.05pm – 2.55pm. The Drama Club is open to all students and Year 7 are encouraged top attend.
