Year 9 Geography Dairy Farm Excursion

Year 9 Geography students spent the day at Gavana Holstein dairy farm. They were learning about biomes being used for agriculture and strategies to improve the sustainability of farming. Students had the opportunity to get close to the cows and twelve students actually volunteered to milk a cow the old fashioned way . . . by hand. Fortunately the sun shone, the air was fresh and the students had fun, especially in the “mud” (which wasn’t actually mud but a healthy mixture of manure – there will be some clothes and shoes to wash tonight!)
