From The Principal

Dear Parents and Carers,

“Challenges exist to be overcome! Let us be realists, but without losing our joy, our boldness and our hope-filled commitment.” (Pope Francis)

These words are a gentle reminder to each of us that we are each called to be present to and for each other within the hustle and bustle of our busy lives. As we prepare to enter into this school term’s final days, it is easy for some to feel burdened with fatigue. However, the simple message from Pope Francis is to be joyful for what we have. As teachers prepare to comment on student academic and pastoral achievement and application, it is vitally important that all students continue to demonstrate not only a sustained school performance but, equally importantly, a sense of self-worth through a strong connection to the Edmund Rice community.  I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge all students, staff and parents who have contributed to the many learning experiences of ERC throughout this semester.

***

As I reported at the recent Parents and Friends Meeting, the College will be transitioning to a new whole-school online management system during the early stages of Term 3. The new management system, known as TASS, is a dual platform for both administration and finance and will replace Edumate and Deltalink. The introduction of TASS will provide enhanced communication for parents, students and teachers and allow for a more streamlined and timely communication system for all users. We will be transitioning to the new platform in Term 3 of this year, and parents will receive an email outlining changes to fee payment reference numbers in the week commencing the 21st of June.

***

In preparation for the College Renewal process, which EREA will facilitate in Term 4 of this year, students across Years 7-12 will undertake an EREA Charter Survey during the early stages of Term 3. The purpose of the online survey is to provide student voice as to how the College holds true to each of its Touchstones – Liberating Education, Gospel Spirituality, Justice and Solidarity, Inclusive Community.  I look forward to sharing these results with the ERC community later next Term.

Term 3 School Information System (SIS) Upgrade: The Alpha School System (TASS).

The commencement of Term 3 will see an improvement to the College’s School Information System (SIS). We will be moving to a more robust and transparent database called TASS – https://www.tassweb.com.au/ across several domains.

TASS will include different student, parent and staff portals (lounges) which will work on your desktop or mobile device. The parent lounge will include functions where you can:

  • Update Medical Details
  • Update Address Details
  • Accept and pay for Tours/Excursions
  • Acknowledge or submit student absence information
  • Schedule Student / Parent / Teacher Interviews
  • Extra-Curricular sign – up
  • College and Assessment calendars
  • Pastoral and Academic notifications

Further information will be sent in the coming weeks and the beginning of next term as we transition to an online environment which provides enhanced communication and online information for our students.
