BYOD Program 2020
Edmund Rice College is a technology rich school that delivers innovation in the curriculum. We have long recognised the benefits of technology in improving and enhancing the education experience of our students. For this reason, we have designed a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) program.
As part of our 1:1 Learning program, each student needs to always have access to a technological device at school and at home. This enables communication and collaboration amongst peers and teachers. For Years 7-8, the College has made the Google Chromebook laptops compulsory. Whereas for Years 9-12, students have the option to bring a device of their own choice according to those specified by the College.
The Information Technology (IT) Department will configure your son’s Chromebook to the school network. Through this deployment procedure the College will provide access to all the necessary curriculum applications. All applications have been pre-installed onto the device. Textbook files can be accessed from the the school’s dedicated site.
By giving students further options in Years 9-12, they can start to develop a sense of responsibility and ownership for their own personalised learning. Edmund Rice College will provide students with a choice to either utilise their current iPad or to bring their own specified device to school. Students can either use a Mac Laptop, iPad or a Google Chromebook at the College.
Below are the current device requirements for 2020:
Year 7 and 8: Chromebook
Years 9, 10, 11 and 12: iPad, Chromebook, or Mac laptop
