ERC Senior Sleep Out
Posted on August 9, 2017
The ERC Senior Sleep Out will take place on Thursday, 17th August in the Edmund Rice Centre.
We aim to raise awareness among the students of the plight of homeless people, especially youth, and to raise funds for the Wollongong Homeless Hub and the SCARF foundation.
Students can be dropped off at the College from 7.00pm. This allows time for them to have dinner and a shower at home before attending the event. The Sleep Out will conclude at 7.30am on Friday, 18th August, with breakfast provided before school starts.
Student drivers must have completed the required documentation and lodged it with their Year Co-ordinator.
College staff will supervise the Sleep Out. A small supper will be provided on the night.
Students are asked to bring a sleeping bag and a piece of cardboard, a water bottle and toiletries for a wash in the morning. An eye mask would also be useful as the emergency lights cannot be switched off in the hall.
Students are not allowed to bring computers, Game Boys, videos or iPods as this is not in the spirit of this event, but they may bring board games or a pack of cards. On the night, students will be watching a Social Justice documentary and participating in activities. Students will be expected to go to sleep at a reasonable time.
The number of participants is strictly limited and anyone interested must return this permission note to me by Monday 14th August. Participants are expected to raise $50.00 or more through sponsorship in order to participate in this event. Students would also gain 8 non-core hours of CSL.
