Historical Summary
Edmund Rice College was established on the 25th of January 1926, although then it was called the Christian Brothers School and later at the new site called Edmund Rice College.
When the school was first established there were four Christian Brothers and around 105 boys. In the sixties the old site was unable to cope with the numbers and the Christian Brothers had to find another place for the school, they chose West Wollongong below Mt Keira.
The school at West Wollongong opened its doors to the senior students in 1962. Gradually Edmund Rice College as it was named expanded and 1974 was the last year any classes were held on the Crown Lane site. Now in 2000 there are around 800 students in classes from year 7 through to year 12.
