Edmund Rice College is a Catholic secondary boys’ school (Years 7 – 12) with an enrolment of 1100 pupils.  One of a network of 42 schools across Australia in the Edmund Rice Education Australia network, the College is located on 9 magnificent hectares in Mt Keira.  Centrally located in the heart of the Illawarra, Edmund Rice College is within walking distance of the University of Wollongong.

1.  Visual Arts Teacher (Years 7-12)

Temporary Part Time (0.5FTE) for the 2018 school year.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

The successful applicant will possess:

  • Registration with NESA as a registered teacher;
  • Appropriate tertiary qualifications and teaching experience to teach Visual Arts from Year 7 to Year 12;
  • The ability to integrate ICT within the curriculum;
  • The ability to work within the Creative Arts team and contribute collaboratively to projects within the wider School environment.

DESIRED CRITERIA

  • Painting as a particular specialty in skills and experience;
  • The ability to teach photography is an advantage.

TEACHING PRACTICE

The successful applicant will:

  • Assist students to develop appropriate skills and knowledge in Visual Art, Design and Photography;
  • Support a range of student abilities within an inclusive learning environment;
  • Communicate effectively with students, staff and parents;
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with students and parents;
  • Establish and maintain an effective classroom learning environment;
  • Plan and implement appropriate curriculum and assessment plans;
  • Use appropriate behaviour management techniques in fulfilling the School’s behaviour management plan;
  • Support and abide by the Edmund Rice College Code of Conduct and other associated mandatory policies of the College;
  • Possess knowledge of, and use, a wide range of assessment strategies;
  • Monitor student progress and provide relevant feedback as required;
  • Possess high level ICT skills;
  • Demonstrate the ability to work as part of a dynamic team of educators;
  • Support the Strategic Directions of the College.

  • Appropriate tertiary qualifications and/or teaching experience to teach Commerce, Geography and History Years 7 to 10;
  • The ability to integrate ICT within the curriculum;
  • The ability to work within the HSIE team and contribute collaboratively to projects within the wider School environment.

TEACHING PRACTICE

The successful applicant will:

  • Assist students to develop appropriate skills and knowledge in Geography, Commerce and history ;
  • Support a range of student abilities within an inclusive learning environment;
  • Communicate effectively with students, staff and parents;
