Principal’s Message  

Congratulations to Year 12,  2016

 Congratulations to the Edmund Rice College leaving class of 2016 on their outstanding results in the 2016 HSC.   Their wonderful results are a product of a strong work ethic and focus on consistent improvement in their studies.  The dedication and commitment of the teaching staff in the support of students in achieving their personal best should also be acknowledged.  These exceptional academic achievements are indicative of the learning achievements of the graduating class of 2016.   The holistic approach to learning at the College has also witnessed the development of a graduating class of young men who are compassionate, generous and reflective, fine examples  of an education which espouses a liberating education grounded in gospel values and a commitment to justice and solidarity.

Edmund Rice College 2016 HSC Highlights

Edmund Rice College received exceptional HSC results in 2016..  Among the many highlights were:

  • Jack Shaw, College Dux, received an ATAR of 99.55
  • 7% (6) of the 96 students achieved an ATAR above 98
  • Four students – Jack Shaw, Patrick Corbett, Zain El Roubaei and Justice- Noah Negro-Malfitano were named in the prestigious All- Rounder list, producing 4 of the 8 All- Rounders in the Illawarra region.
  • Two other students Pha -Hai Nguyen and Joseph Fernandez received results over 90 in all bar one subject, where they received a mark of 89
  • 67 entries in the HSC Distinguished Achievers’ List. In the Herald table ERC was ranked 134th in the state on the 2016 results (measures the percentage of Band 6 entries compared to the number of papers sat).  ERC was the second highest ranked Illawarra school behind the local selective high school Smiths Hill.
  • 10 students shortlisted for possible inclusion in InTech, the annual exhibition of outstanding Major Projects by HSC Industrial Technology students: Johannes Badi, Julius Cleary, Charlie Eaton, James Ferreira Da Silva, Anthony Gabriele, Zachary Heffernan, Jacob Hollingshead, Nicholas Issa, Bailie Leonard and Andre Stefanovic
  • 85% of students who applied received early entry into University (56 students)
  • 93% of the Studies of Religion 2 Unit Class received a Band 5 or 6
  • 92% of the Accelerated Studies of Religious Education 1 Unit class received a Band 5 or 6
  • All 96 students graduating in 2016 either entered university or other tertiary courses or gained employment.
