OBJECTIVES OF THE ASSOCIATION
The Edmund Rice
Charter defines (eleven) cultural characteristics that reflect the mission of
the school. In applying to enrol our
boys at the school, we accept this educational philosophy in the Edmund Rice
tradition. The Parents and Friends
Association finds most of its connection under the characteristic of Community; a distinctive school
community where parents play an integral role.
From this understanding of the charter, the following objectives
emerge:-
- The ERC Parents
and Friends Association recognizes the need for a strong and interdependent
relationship with the College’s management. The College and Parent/Guardian body
jointly take responsibility for the growth and development of our boys.
- The Association is
about the fostering of a sense of
school community, with a spirit that is supportive of respect, care
and justice. This will raise the
quality of our personal relationships.
- The Association
can tangibly enhance the
students’ resources with financial support by donations of time, effort
and money. All money raised
provides extra facilities that benefit the students in a variety of ways.
- The operation of
the Association seeks to generate an atmosphere
of good humour and camaraderie.
Fun and hospitality symbolise a relaxed mode of living, encouraging
sustainable and enduring relationships.
- In a family
atmosphere, the Association values past direct
relationships and endeavours to foster an alumni spirit with former students and
families. Lifelong relationships
are welcomed and encouraged.
The
strategies adopted by the Executive committee will be working to achieve these
objectives. They will vary from year to
year with a common ultimate focus on promotion
and interaction through
- verbal and written
communications, and
- social functions and activities.
