Education - Outdoor Activities

The Edmund Rice College Outdoor Education Programme in years 7 - 10, combined with the retreat programme of years 11 & 12 and the varied co-curricular activities which take place outside the classroom environment, forms an integral part of the total education and pastoral experience.
In the particular the outdoor education programme focuses in a developing manner on the process of building on the relationships between students and staff. This programme begins in year 8, and continues in years 9 and 10. The cost of this compulsory programme will be incorporated within the school fees structure.

The major facets of the programme are:

  • Year 7 orientation camp (1 day for each homeroom at Mt. Keira)


  • Year 7 activities camp (3 days and 2 nights) - entire year group


  • Year 8 adventure camp (3 days and 2 nights) - entire year group


  • Year 9 learn to ski camp (6 days and 5 nights) at the Snowy Mountains in conjunction with the     Department Of Sport and Recreation

    or

  • Year 9 outdoor camp (3 days and nights)

  • Year 10 wilderness camp (5 days and 4 nights) - entire year group.
